A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I'm 17 still a virgin, I think of it as a major accomplishment. I'm young and I'm not super model gorgeous but I'm very pretty people are always shocked when they find out I'm a virgin and they never believe me. My friends all not virgins keep saying sex is so good .I want to know how sex feel for the first time. Rate the pain from 1-10. I also want to know how it feels after doing it for awhile. Rate the pleasure from 1-10. Don't worry I'm not asking this to go have sex it's me being curious. Plus I'm not in love, When I am I'll do it when I am good and ready. THANK YOU .

Well for the first time, even with foreplay - pain 9 (it was unbearable we had to stop) and pleasure 0.

A reader, anonymous, writes (16 April 2011):

Hi there,

Congrats to sticking to your principles!

Well, my "first time" was quite bad, no foreplay at all, he was very insensitive, it hurt me 8 and was pleasure 0. So actually we didn't have sex but we tried and then stopped.

But the second guy I had sex with was much nicer, he kissed me for a long time, went down on me, fingered me and then later it hurt 0 and was pleasure, hm I'd say 6 or 7 when we had sex. Sometimes it still hurts a bit in the beginning, but when I tell my partner to slow down and try to relax or adjust the position the pain fades away very quickly. After that, it gets better and better and there are times when I really really enjoy sex 10+!

I really recommend you to chose someone you love for the first time and not worry too much about the pain. Sex doesn't have to be perfect from the start, it gets better over time. I love it now and wouldn't want to miss it anymore, but I need an emotional connection to the person I do it with. And also I needed to learn to say things like "this hurts" or "could you do that". The other person doesn't know your body so it's you who can show him how not to hurt you.

A female reader, KeighleySky United Kingdom +, writes (16 April 2011):

KeighleySky agony auntThe pain all depends on the person. It also depends on how relaxed you are.

If the pain scale is 1- very painful and 10- not painful at all i'd say about a 7. For me it wasnt so bad, but i know for some girls it can be very painful.

It's good that you've kept your innocence and that you want the first to be someone you love, i really respect you for that.

Afterwards it shouldnt hurt, maybe the first few times, but after that its amazing. As long as your partner prepares you properly it shouldt hurtm unless hes too rough.

the first time as ive said all depends on the person's hymen and how gentle your lover is.

A male reader, Odds United States +, writes (16 April 2011):

Odds agony auntGood for you on holding to your principles. It can be tough to do, with peer pressure and all, but it's good and worthy of respect.

I can't rate the first time from the female perspective, but I can tell you that whether it's the first time or the thousandth, who you're with has the largest impact on how you feel during and after.

If you're with someone you are incredibly attracted to (this applies to men and women), it feels great during. If you're with someone who is incredibly attracted to you (again, men and women), it feels great during and after. If you can get both in one person, you've hit the jackpot.

If all of those components are missing, though, sex is basically masturbation that you're allowed to brag about. So, when your friends talk about sex being great, remember that while a lot of the time they're telling the truth, some might just be going through the motions (you can usually spot the difference by whether they're happily seeing the person outside of the bedroom).
