writes: Hi, I've tried finding out about this but nowhere seems to give me a concrete answer so thought I'd ask here! I take the contraceptive pill, I finished my pack on Sunday so this week is meant to be my period. Problem is, I'm meant to be staying over someone’s house on Friday, and I’ll be bleeding a lot by then! So my question is, if I go back onto my pills a few days early will it stop my period from coming on, if not, then what will that do? Thanks!

Xlaurenx is correct. The only thing I would like to add is that you may want to speak with your doctor at your next appointment just to make sure that taking packs of birth control pills consecutively without taking the inactive pills, is medically okay for you. Certain types of birth control pills aren't meant to be taken without a break. Your doctor will know, based on the type of pill and your medical history, whether taking two or even three months of active pills consecutively it is safe for you.Next, if you take active pills from two or three packets in a row, without a break for your period, you are more likely to experience breakthrough bleeding. It is a known side effect of these types of medications. It can happen at inconvenient times and can be unpredictable. Finally, there is a product I've seen (never bought or used one though) in a few pharmacies on the feminine products aisle that you could look into. It is called a menstrual cup. You may want to look into it and see if it will suit your needs while staying over with your friend.

no it wont do anything you've left it to late to "skip" a period you must take you're next packet starting on the next day so monday and not have a break to skip a period it will have no effect if you start now

If you had, instead of having a pill free week, just started your new pack the very next day after finishing your other pack then you can stop a period. Try ringing a local pharmacy as the pharmacist will be able to tell you.
Next time just start your new pack straight away! Don't do this every month though just so you never have a period only do it when you have a good reason to : ) hope I was some help : )
