Not love, no, but I think you can recognize pretty quickly when you have seen someone who you "click" with, a kindred spirit, if you like. You just know that you are on the same wavelength just by looking at each other. It takes time to fall in love, but I think it's possible to see the potential from the first meeting. I think I "fell in love" with my husband the first night I met him. I couldn't get his face out of my head, and that night everyone else in the room disappeared :)

I thought: "maybe I could grow to love this man", and I was right :)

hmm..

I'm a hopeless romantic but I don't think it happens at first sight, no. Unless of course, you factor in intangibles. For instance: When you see someone just randomly throughout their day they might not be presenting their "true" selves, but instead what they present to the world. To see more than that takes a bit of digging. So it might be argued, that you never truly "see them" until all the defenses are bypassed, walls lowered, suspicions assuaged, and trust gained.. Then at that moment, after all your hard work, when your souls seem to touch, it could be further argued that that was the first time you truly "saw" each other as you really are. And then love ensues. Of course, several months or even years can go by before this moment of epiphany may be reached.

Love at first sight to me is a metaphor for a larger more involved process... sort of similar to God creating the earth in 7 days.
