I took the morning after pill ( levonelle ) and now my period is 6 weeks late. When i was 2 weeks late i went to the doctors for a urine test and it came back negative. Could this test be wrong or can the morning after pill make your period this late? I have had no bleeding or spotting at all. Ive had some cramps and im tired more than usual but thats it. Has anyone else took the morning after pill and their period was really late? Or a pregnancy test that was wrong?

DrPsych agony auntIt is possible that your symptoms are related to taking the morning-after pill. If you took the medication within 72 hours of unprotected sex then there is little chance you are pregnant. However, as a precaution you should take another pregnancy test as it is possible that your hormone levels were not sufficiently raised to detect a pregnancy when you took the first urine test. In all probability you are not pregnant and your cycle should settle down. However, if you still do not have a period in a few weeks it would be a good idea to see your doctor to make sure there are no hormonal reasons (a simple blood test would identify any imbalance).

PeanutButter agony auntI have taken it twice, it can mess up your cycle. If in doubt, take another test, but you should be fine. Let us know what happens xxx

Yes, pregnancy tests can give you a false negative. Yes, the morning after pill can make you skip your period. Take another test.

Its probably the pill, it does all kinds of stuff to your body, I've taken it twice before when I probably should not have because I was on birth control. I think that if you went to the doctor and their test was negative then you're probably not pregnant. You could have a hormonal imbalance, so you might go back and have them take a blood test just to rule that out. Maybe you should talk to them about getting on birth control, then you would not have these problems. I am not going to get after you, because I've done the same thing, more than once.
