hi. ive just been for a job interview on wednesday. iv not had any experience of a real job interview before. the job im in, i got i think because my mum knew people and i felt my boss wasnt reli interested in interviewing me. his attension was other places he asked me two questions and then sed i had the job basicly. im realy unhappy with this job now and dying to go sumwhere else. this new job opened up and its a place i REALLY REALLY want to work in. its close to home, pays better, nicer people, everything. but when it came to the interview i felt i did horribly. i even refused to answer one of the questions because when i was in there i felt it was inappropriate they were asking about to explain a time wen i helped a friend or work colleague or family member thru a hard time - at the time i just thot of all these problems like break ups my friends have been thru, my grandpa goin to AA and gran not coping and i just thot at the time, thats horrible and i didnt want to explain all these details to two interviewers. i now realise that i was over thinkng the question and i shudnt have refused it. i told them id rather not answer it because of the issues involved. the guys were reli nice and i had a laugh with them. i really wanted the job so much. i get so nervous and id had no experience. im really afraid. its not a career job or anything. its a parttime. bt im also going on holiday for two weeks on the 30th. id hate to loose the job. im so scared its making me so upset. im awaiting the phone call from tomoro until sunday to find out whats happening. im going to feel so disappointed if i dnt get it and think i couldv dun so much betr. i no there are other jobs out there, but this was the one i really wanted overall. it was just unfortunate its came up at this time when im going on holiday and that i hadnt had other interviews first.

can anyone give me any advice?

There was this great career I wanted. It paid awesome & had awesome benefits. I went through 4 tests, and then an interview, the process took over 2 months. I kept having to wait until they called me for the next step in the process. I did awesome on all the tests & awesome on the interview. I was confident, I was polite, I amswered all the ?'s quickly & gave great answers. I was shocked at how well I did. I was never contacted..a friend of mine who works for the same company said she bombed the interview. She got a call back. So don't always assume that doing perfect on an interview is what they are looking for. I think they take other factors into it as well. If you don't get a call, well it was good experience for the future. That is how I look at it.

We'll it was your first REAL interview, so don't beat your self up. Those guys are professionals, they knew you were nervous, and they probably took it easy on you, and if you guys shared a laugh or two, thats a major plus. Also, not telling them anything about a hard time you helped someone through probably shows them you been though some tough stuff, and you actually speak what you feel, and you felt it was too personal to tell them, I honestly would respect you for that. Anyway, I have to do the same thing soon, my job right now I got because my aunt works there, and yeah they really don't care much about an interview if your related to someone. I didn't even get into the department which I exceed in which basically proves she didn't even read my application. Well all I want to tell you, you probably handled that interview a hell of a lot better and it was your FIRST, so again don't beat yourself up. I know it will be hard, but don't start camping near the phone, just continue as normal. I wish you the best of lucks ;)
