writes:how do i get a girlfriend, or even make female friends? I am very smart and top of my class in high school and i'm a senior, but I feel that I have problems socially. I can talk a lot and i make some girls laugh a lot, but i "never seem to be able to take it out of the classroom". I'm really only able to entertain people or meet them in class if i sit near them. I think it may be my lack of fashion sense that needs changing, or just a lot of things, because i just wear an ordinary tshirt or sweater with blue jeans every day, whcih seems okay to me. the real problem is that i wear runnig shoes instead of "cool" shoes, and i heard that what shoes you wear matters a lot... so i think in eed to buy new shoes soon but still not sure what type... anyways.. sorry for my ramble.. i just can't seem to make any female friends or get any girlfriends even though i get hints sometimes that they enjoy my company. Any advice? I'm also very self-conscious, which i hate. it really only happens when i walk and i feel like all my motions must be exact... and i can't dance.. so it may all be one single problem... any help that really helps me will be life-changing

Im not going to lie us girls do go for guys with a sense for fashion but its not all about that. From the way you say you do get attention from the girls is a first step. Its not all about being head to toe in the latest brands that matter. These girls may not be approaching you because they are too shy and most of us girls like you guys to approach us. Just carry on the way u are going, maybe spruce up your wardrobe a bit if u want and who knows what will happen. As they say ' the best things that happen in life come to those who wait' Im sure u will find what ur looking for. All the best. Get back to me and let me know how u get on.

reader, anonymous, writes (31 October 2006): firstly...dont try so hard..the right girl is just around the corner..and when u least expect it..itll hit u..and she'll be so nice that ull just ask her out there and then! if u wana make new female freinds..u dont hav to be funny..well u do sumtimes..but u could try jus making up convos about the latest movies..(with this u cud gradually ask sum1 out..like 'oh i havnt seen that one..maybe we shud go and watch it sumtym?')...guys need manners as well...be polite..respectful...and most of all..CHARMING...if u like a girl..sweeep her off her feeet...i think it would be wise to get involved in a hobbie..or fave passtime..go to concerts and stuff..n then start talking about whoeva u saw preform..its easy..jus be urself...good luck..freind x
