writes:recently, a few of my friends have been recieving anonymous text messages from somebody which have not been very nice. we know the person sending this knows us, as references are made to personal things, but the person seems to be using an anonymous number. is there anything we can do? and any ideas on how we can get these people back, as some of the things said have been very hurtful and personal, and i'm not happy at seeing my friends abused in this way?

reader, anonymous, writes (28 December 2008): if you dont find out who it is go to the police, they can get a warrant for fone records. its more than likely an unregistered fone (unless it is someone stupid!) but just start screening their texts. People like that are just looking for a reaction.

Well if it's someone you know then just talk openly how some psycho is stalking you all and probably just fancies you.
Laugh about it and talk about how you're just laughing at the texts because anyone who does that is just so sad that it's funny.
Once word gets out that you aren't bothered by them then the person sending them will realise they are just wasting time and money giving you a bit of a giggle.

 I had a similar problem whereby my sister was receiving phone calls of a personal nature on her mobile that were not nice. We didnt know who the caller was, and it eventually landed up being texts.
I had had enough of my sister crying to me about the calls and thought I would end it once and for all. I got a spare mobile phone and called the number, that way they dont have your numbers. I then proceeded to ask to speak to someone that didnt exist. Whoever owned the phone was stupid enough to answer the call and I eventually found out it was my nieces friend.
Get a sim card for another number and make a call. If the person is stupid enough they will answer and you can figure out the voice. Or if they are really stupid, they will give you their name!
