Fancy yourself as an agony aunt? Add your answer to this question! A

If you don't want that you may wonder why she should want it either! There are loads of options which you could discuss with your doctor together. You would be asked whether if something should happen to the children you have, whether you would want more etc. Hard questions but that is because there are people who have lost their kids but been made infertile with operations and not been able to try again. That is sad although the risk is obviously miniscule. Think carefully and have lots of talks with experts. The interenet helps, but doctors also have very up to date information available and can help you during discussion.

For a woman having her tubes tied, there is still a very slight chance that she CAN fall pregnant. The tubes are "tied" and can always, through time slacken again. The best way to avoid this happening is for her to have them CUT and not TIED!

Good catch by maxsteel and mebee! Why didn't I think of that? It is true that vasectomy is another option for you as a couple, I'm quoting from webmd.com here: "Vasectomy is a safer, cheaper procedure that causes fewer complications than tubal ligation in women."

No, that would be impossible. My mom did that after she had my baby brother two years ago in June. She couldn't get pregnant if she had that done.

how about you go for the vasectomy instead? So much easier, cheaper and works wonders

Sounds like the chances are very slim for her to get pregnant after tubal ligation. Here's a link for some medically reviewed informtion:

As far as giving birth again after the ligation, it sounds like that wouldn't be a problem for her, assuming all goes well with such an unlikely pregnancy!
All the best.

Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure it is pretty close to impossible. These days it's a pretty common procedure to have them cauterized or cut or both. As far as what to do on the extremely off chance that she becomes pregnant I'm pretty sure that she could still give birth... but once again don't quote me on that. Hope I helped.-Jmo
