My uncle is unemployed, doesnt have many friends, is single and he's pretty lonely. He's also my godfather. My parents made him my godfather as they felt sorry for him as he cant have children. I dont like going out drinking all that much, but thats all he likes doing when he goes out. I dont like offending him by saying no, but i cant make myself do something that i dont like doing just because i feel sorry for him. I live with him and my grandparents ( its a long story ), so it makes it even more awkward that i see him every day . How can i tell him not to keep relying on me, without sounding cruel ?. I prefer going to the theatre, concerts, cinema, for a meal, things like that. Reply to this Question Share |

Stand in front of a mirror and practice saying this: "I really love you Uncle... but there's a generation difference between us... and I would prefer to hang with my generation and not spend so much time with you." That should do it......
