A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Im in what most people would call one of the biggest problems of their lives.

The story may be a little hard to follow. I am just telling it how it unfolded to me.

I have my best friend (male who will be known as M), who ive been friends with for the longest time and then i have another friend who i have been really good friends with for about 6 months, and i auctally took her to prom (she will be known as F). 2 weeks ago, M hooked up with F, then the next morning M asked F out. she said yes. 10 hours later, F broke up with M. M was devistated. Me being the best friend i could be, dove in head first to try and help M, and when needed to help F aswell. this wasnt the first time he was hurt bad like this. there is another story, but that is irrelivant. only thing needed to know was he was hurt bad.

The next day after the break up, he went to her house, and cried in her room. she took him back, only to break up with him a second time the next day. he would call her and curse at her and it wasnt a pretty sight. it took a couple days, and i thought i finally got to him that things were gonna happen like that, and its about getting over them and trying again thats important, and i thought it finally got through to him.

Few nights later i got a text message from F saying M called her, and apologized, and that they were going to be friends. I was very happy when i read that. The following day, M invited me to sleepover and talk about things. Aparently, he really didnt want to be friends, he wanted to be more then friends.

im gonna skip ahead a little bit because this part of the story i unnessessary.

Now this is where it gets interesting. There was a little get together at M's house, with about 5 people, and a bottle of alcohol. M, F, and i drank, i was the only one able to handle it and not get drunk. they started yelling at eachother and M said "you dumped me you bitch"

this is where my problem comes in, and the biggest twist of the story so far.

"Its not my fault, i dont like you, i like him!" guess who she pointed at. if you guessed me, you're absolutly right. we had to seperate them, 2 friends went with M because he needed more calming down, i went with F. she kept saying sorry for putting me in this situation, and she didnt know M was my best friend, and F liked me since we first met, and she thinks she blew her chance with me.

I am torn now. they both know i would die for them if need be, but i want to get out of this situation as cleanly as possible without anyone getting more hurt. I feel no matter what i do, someone is going to get hurt. Meaning, if i say something leaning towards F, M will hate me. if i say something leaning towards M, F will hate me.

heres my question: what should i do?

Thanks for taking the time to read this and help me!
