Well, to get right to the point, my teacher doesn't like me...at all. I don't know why, honestly, I've never hardly said two words to the guy. I used to joke around with him a lot because he had my brother before me and he really liked him, and they would kid around all the time, but when I tried to, he got mad, I mean like so much so, that he threatened to send me to the office for basically doing what everyone else does with him. When we grade papers he always sits right in front of my desk to look and see if I'm cheating, then when he takes papers up and I hand him mine, he stands there and stares at it to make sure I didn't cheat. Or I'll try smiling at him in the hallway or saying "Hey" and he'll just look at me and walk by. I'm not being prideful at all, believe me, but he told us our grades and I have the highest average in the class, but I've never gotten one compliment from him for doing my homework, passing tests, etc. Instead, he seems to prefer the students that make average to below average grades and do nothing but disrupt class, seriously. I always have to rewrite his notes for the people who miss class, and usually he doesn't even use them, so I do a load of extra work for him and he doesn't even acknowledge it. By the way, this isn't one of those cases where the teacher gives "extra attention" to the under achieving students; no. This man just flat-out doesn't like me, any advice on what to do? Because I have to put up with him for the rest of this semester, thanks(:

thank you for posting this :) im in exactely the same posistion last year i did something stupid to this teacher where i basically spoke before i thought and yes i was an idiot come september hes okay with me id go as far as to say i one of his favourites then all of a sudden two weeks before the holidays he turns from being friendly to ignoring me totally if me and my friend said something he'd look at me before blanking me and talking to my friend even if he passes me in a hallway he'll look at me and not say hi i mean i get if he doesnt speak to me everytime he sees me but if im on my own is it too much effort to say hiya when all my other teachers do and hes talks to the rest of his students ... :s the only thing i can think of is at the end of the day teachers are human he may just not like you as a person (no offence to you) if its really botherig you go to him after class and ask him why hes been acting differently to you. i agree with anon stop doing all the extra work and just concentrate on your grades if he wants to act like a teenager let him

petina1 agony auntI can understand what you are going through, but can't offer an explanation. I had a teacher who made me feel like that. He sat me right in front of him during a class test, even though he didnt say the words, i thought, he must think im cheating. I came first in the class after the test. I often look back and think, the friend i had was very rich, and i was very poor, our grades were always very close so maybe he thought i was cheating all the time. After that day, i felt like saying 'HUH".. you were wrong'.. But the thing is, he let me sit at the back of the class again next to my rich friend. So that said it all to me. So what I'm saying is he probably has his own reasons, but just do the work and bide y our time until you can get out of his class. Don't do anything that might change things.

Me may be reacting to the notion that he should have to like you as a student.

If he had and liked your brother, if other teachers think you are smart and tell him so, and if you expect to be liked and complimented and essentially ask him to like you by doing extra work, he may react by refusing to like you. He may insist to himself that you are a brownnoser and perhaps a cheat.

I've had a project manager like this who seemed to deeply resent me and only have criticism for what I did. I went to work for him as part of a promotion. From the start he tried to find fault in everything I did. He would look over my shoulder while I was working. He spoke down to me in meetings and I found out in the future that he spoke badly about me to my team mates. It was the longest year of my life.

If I were you, I would stop doing extra work for him. Stop being earnest. Although you do take his disinterest personally, try not to show it. Do your work, but ignore him. Be a good student, let him be a bad teacher.
