A female United Kingdom, anonymous writes:

I've heard that if you go on the pill, it tricks your body into thinking your pregnant, and you won't get your period.

I have really bad periods, bad bloating, unbelievable pain, terrible moodswings, constant tiredness, etc.etc., would going on the pill stop all this?

Please help.

anon2907 agony auntHey,

there are a number of different types of pills out there which apparently do different things. I've never really investigated.

I know people have gone on the pill for what you describe - and I did for a while. However, for me the constant tiredness was a symptom of anaemia and taking iron tablets (prescribed by the Dr) has helped that - and oddly (maybe coincidentally) reduced some of the other symptoms as well - often less pain, less moody etc.

Go and speak to your doctor about it though - they've know all about it and can give you the proper advice.

Good luck,

Frank B Kermit agony auntHi Girl,

I am not a woman, but have known alot of them. According to women that have taken the pill, yes it does make the pain of your period more manageable. It does not stop your period to my knowledge, but it does help with the pain.

The only other things you need to inform yourself about is that the pill does have side effects, and some of them might mean that you should not be on it for too many stretches at a time.

Best see your doctor about it,

Hope you feel better.
