My male friend is mad at me because I talked to my ex

A male friend of is mad at me because I had a conversation with my ex-boyfriend today.I quit being friends with my ex about 2 months ago..My ex has called and text,but I havent responded... So my male friend told me just to text him and say I had a boyfriend,and that should get rid of him.well i did and my ex called me today from someone elses phone, and we ended up having a conversation. When I told my friend that we talked today and he got upset telling me to tell "my boo" he said Hi.he asked if he was coming over tonight. I told him were just on talking terms..its not like we"re gonna be together,we"ll just Be civil thats all. Why is he mad? did I do something wrong?
