I agree that we could do with a little more information so we can give you a proper answer. Why is this guy unavailable to you? Does he have a girlfriend? Is he much older than you or something. Or is it his Aspergers that gets in the way (because he doesn't "get" the signals that you fancy him)? Or is it just that you're too shy to approach him?

Perhaps you could tell us a little more about the problem. You have been friends with someone since you were 8 years old.
The story you told yourself then about living happily ever after with him can be rewritten.
But you really haven't said enough about the problem you see before you so it's difficult to offer any advice.
