Hi
Universities give grants, you get funding to go,if you dont have GCSEs then ask at the Job Centre about how you can get them. Also get an appointment with the Next Steps advisor.
I don't know where your going for voluntary work, there are places crying out for help usually. Have you registered with do-it.org
http://www.do-it.org.uk/

hi, until recently i've also felt aimless and lost. Single parent, no job prospects, skint, and then i enroled on a college course. Let me tell you, you CAN afford it. Colleges have their own learner support funds to help with tuition and expenses, and as you're on a low income you should qualify. Even if they wont cover all of it, they should cover about half, and the rest you can pay throughout the year. They'll usually tell you about this when you go to an interview for the course. At the moment you seem like you have no motivation, no get up and go. You have to be proactive and MAKE things happen. If your unhappiness and dissatisfaction is circumstantial, focus on your future, on what you can achieve and how to get it. Start the ball rolling. Youll make more friends on your course, and in your exciting future with a new found confidence and zest for life.
