Example: Last night watching Private Practice he went downstairs to turn off lights in the middle of the program. When he came back I told him that the couple on the show was not getting back together. There was a scene in the show later where the mother was conforting the child and telling her that she and her husband, the child's father, were not getting back together. My husband asked, "oh, are they not getting back together?". I said I had told him that earlier and we then had a big fight. This is just the most recent example but it happens all the time. I've read about dementia but it is scaring me. Reply to this Question Share |

Hi!!
It's one of two things....He either really does have short-term memory loss or He has very "selective" hearing....Alot of men "tune out" when women are chattering....But you need to be sure either way....
Pay attention to "when" this occurs...Is it while you are watching television or all of the time...Are there other distractions involved?...Men can only focus on "one thing at a time" unlike women who are "milti-tasked"...
If you find it's an all of the time thing...I would definitely consult a doctor...If not, he's probably distracted....

Sweetie, we all become forgetful as we get older, although I would suggest if you are really worried about his memory to make an appointment with your doctor to have him checked out. Also, try not pick fights over silly things like what you wrote about, life is too short, rather just ignore the comment and carry on.
