He won't dump you if he cares for you that much. Forget what your friends have said - they no nothing about relationships.
A relationship isn't just about sex - it's about loyalty, trust, care, affection, mutual goals, respect AND sex. You are doing the right thing with your boyfriend. You're taking time, you're getting to know him without anything getting confused, and you are making sure that he doesn't just want to use you. Also, I'm guessing you are under the legal age.
If he loves you, truly, he will wait until you are certainly over the age of consent, but also until you are ready. If he dumps you, then you know he's not the one.
Don't listen to your friends. They are immature and are a prime example of girls gone wrong. They think sex is they key, when it's not.
