It depends what age your friend is. I think if hes at least 20 he should tell his mum its none of her business.

However, if he is younger, I would tend to agree with his mother.

Rebecca Batchelor agony auntIs this you or your friend? Seems to be a common start by saying 'my friend'...but we will take it that your friend is male and 8 years younger than a woman he is falling in love with.

It all depends really on how old he is. I mean, if he is only 15 and she is 23, then his mother would have cause for concern. If he is 18 and therefore the girl 26, his mother possibly would still be worried but wouldn't have the actual right to intervene, just to be there if it didn't work out for him.

A mother can only advise and support dependent on the age of her son, of course. Suggesting breaking up solely because of an age difference is extreme as the mother could at least try to get to know her son's girlfriend first before passing judegment.

Age gap relationships can work providing both parties go into it aware that they will need to compromise and understand each other's needs perhaps a little more than relationships where there isn't an age gap.

I hope this helps.

His Mother really has no right to interfere with his Love life! If he truly feels this way about her then its "HIS" choice. He needs to tell his Mother this whether she likes it or not. I guess it really depends on how old he is..you didn't say. If he is fifteen or younger then I could see that it would pose a problem for his Mother. If He is an adult then he and Mom need to have a talk!
