A female United Kingdom age 26-29, anonymous writes:

my best friend and I are extra tight but my other friends started saying kinda mean things to him on facebook and saying it was me.

He wont talk to me at the moment, even though my friend told him i didnt say those things, i dont know whether its because he thinks i did say those things or because of other issues.

I don't know what to do, its been a long weekend and im seeing him at school tomorrow. I'm gonna try and wait for him so we can walk down together but i think he might avoid me and just go down the other way...

What should I do? he knows I'd never say anything like that to him and yet I think he thinks I did, what do I do and what do i say?

A female reader, anonymous, writes (4 July 2010):

Hi,

i know someone who was in the same position. Firstly try and see your mate on a one to one basis and tell them that you are upset for both him and you that this has happened. tell him it is obvious someone is very jealous of your relationship and that if the shoe was on the other foot you would never believe that he would do that to you. Ask him to remembe what yout friendship means to you both and that you would never hurt one another in this way. as soon as you both put on an united front the person responsible will either back off because they know they are not winning or it will eventually eat away at them so much that they will become more open with their resentment. Don't worry they will soon be found out.. Be patient
