writes: my friend was just battling anorexia for 2 years. it has been over a year and i always thought he was doing great until he confided in me last night that he was severly struggling and wanting to give up. He does not like the way he looks. This really worries me and i dont know what to do! I want to help him so much but i know how hard it can be as i also have an eating disorder. any ideas in how i can help him?

I've had an eating disorder for most of my life, and really the only thing that you can do is be there and try to encourage him to start treatment again. I know at my Center for Eating Disorders, there are a lot of free groups for people struggling and friends/family of those to come to chat about their problems and get help. You might want to look into that just to get you started:)
