At the age of 18 I had a part time job at a restaurant and was acquainted with a girl there my age. I wasn't at all attracted to her but she seemed very chatty, and invited me to come out with her friends. That night, we ended up kissing, holding hands etc. She told a couple of people we were going out. The next day, however, she didn't talk about the night and we never brought it up again.Neither of us work there any more and nothing more happened. Except two things. Once, when we were talking on Facebook, I joked about how I almost asked her if she wanted a night of passion with me, and she replied 'I almost wished you had asked', and while drunk at our old boss' wedding party, she started dancing a little raunchily with me and whispered in my ear 'you know if we were single....?' but refused to finish the sentence and I never knew what she was going to say. She had a habit of being quite seductive and revealing very personal secrets when drunk but then would be cold the next day.We are still in touch but I have a girlfriend now and am very happy. I have no interest in that girl any more, but just want to know what the hell that was about? She completely blew hot and cold.

Hmm she gained confidence through a drink then when sober her guard came back up. It is clear that she had the hots for you.

She wasn't confident enough to tell you sober, simple as that. I don't think she was blowing hot and cold at all

She wasn't blowing hot and cold. She was making it very clear to you that she was interested and alcohol gave her the courage to say it out loud and shed her inhibitions. She knew exactly what she was saying and doing but when she saw that you weren't responding to her the way she wanted you to, she would later act like nothing happened. What else could she do after all? She had to save face.
