My friend can't seem to accept that I've come out of my shell

A female age 30-35, anonymous writes:

So I have had a couple of confidence problems in the past but in the last year I've really come out of my shell and I'm being a lot more confident. However I have a friend who can't seem to accept this, she was always the more assertive one and now I've got more confident she seems to put me down more. It really gets me down and puts me in a foul mood for some time. It's proven to be bad with guys as I try to come across as confident but when they see me with her they think I'm a bit pathetic. I know this question isn't really to do with love etc but this issue has been affecting my love life and how other people especially guys see me. What should I do after all she is still my friend ?

A male reader, Welsh Uncle Dave United Kingdom +, writes (19 April 2011):

You've probably stolen her thunder and now get the attention while she has slipped into the background and she doesn't like it. Jealousy.

Carry on as you are, it's not your problem, it's hers. The guys will soon see that.
