writes: hi i'll make this short. my fellas daughter has just told him that her mother wants him to send over money to her for xmas cus she cant afford to get her children stuff. we will be buying them big pressies anyway. but the money we send over will buy presents that are put under the tree from her. are we being unreasonable in our thinkin.... we work all year round to have all we have, and she stays at home and doesnt work. ( her children are grown up and they're split up for more than 5 years!) why should we fork out for her?please help. don't wana be nasty, just dont see why she should get away with being lazy....x

reader, anonymous, writes (28 November 2006): Tell her to get off her bum and get out there and get a job, provide some Christmas cheer herself. If they split 5 years ago you shouldn't be expected to send money to her. No! I wouldn't be pleased.
You are buying presents from yourself to the kids.
Either:-
a)Tell her money is tight and you just cannot afford to send any.
b)Stop trying to bum off us and get some cash saved from a job.
