She missed a week of uni and when she came back she told me that her boyfriend had been cheating on her for four months and they had split. I joked that I would 'go beat him up' for her, and sent her a nice text along with a cheesy joke to cheer her up, to which she responded 'hahaha, that was brilliant bab' and then 'your jokes always make me laugh :)'. Why am I telling you this? Because I don't know whether to make my move or not, or how to do it. Bluntly asking her out right now just seems insensitive and wrong. How can I gently hint that I like her and I would love to make her my girlfriend?

I agree with iAmHereToHelpYou !If you want something more then a roll in the hay with this girl, LET her GET OVER the ex first. BE there for her and hold back those hormones.
