We believe this started around march 08(when he was unemployed) and in total taken around £5500. I cant understand why he would do this when he's had everything he could want and if he needed the money my parents would have lent it to him. Why do such a thing

It could be as innocous as a shopping addiction or something more serious like gambling. Usually when normal people steal, it's because they are hiding something and are too afraid to say, hey pops, I need money to go play the slots, because they don't want their parents to know or they worry they will be judged. Only your brother has those answers.

Ask him!
It could be the excitement - It could be the fact he resents your parents for something.
Talk to him calmly like adults and ask him for his side of the story.
Good Luck!! xx
