reader, anonymous, writes (27 January 2012): It sounds like your boyfriend has some insecurity. It's not uncommon, especially if he's had some bad breakups in the past. I've found that a breakup can be just like PTSD - sometimes a similar situation, even though it's different, triggers the same fears and feelings. Perhaps he had an ex that was flirted with and subsequently dumped him to pursue the other guy?I think you should talk to him. First of all you want to reassure him that you love him and you wouldn't and are not cheating on him, but also you should open the door for him to explain himself. Ask him why he feels that a simple text means you're cheating. Even ask him if there's something that's happened to him before that scares him when it comes to this. Sometimes just the very fact that you care about how HE is feeling this way can really help open communication and help him talk more openly about these fears to you rather than accusing you.Best of luck
