My boyfriend lied about his grades on his college application form as he knew he would not get in without them. He had his interview today and they have agreed to let him in aslong as he proves what grades he got..

The grades he used are pretty similar to the ones I got so do you think I could edit mine to say his name?

He is really so enthusiastic about this course and he feels like a failure already, the thing is I know he is so bright but he just gave up at school. He knows a lot more than me and can do anything if he puts his mind to it. He has taught himself how to play the guitar and read music and has a better understanding of the English language than I do and I sat my Higher wheras he didn't even do his standard grade.

I know if I do this it will be wrong but I just really want him to have a good chance and folow his dream..

What should I do?

Tell him to put his college dream on hold; then get a part-time job to fund his studies, and work his butt off for the grades he needs. That way, he can reapply to college with the grades he earned from his own mind (you said he was bright - so he needs to apply himself in order to achieve anything).

As for the college, he can simply tell them he has decided it isn't the right thing for him right now, and that he has decided to do something else for the time being. Advise him not to ask to defer his application, as if he gets grades for real they will be different to the ones he gave and he'll get caught out.

Make up courses and resits, not fraud that could get you both JAIL TIME and CRIMINAL RECORDS that will spoil future jobs, is what he needs to get.

Frank B Kermit agony auntWhat you are thinking of doing is fraud and is illegal. YOU could suffer more than he, because he could claim it was your idea and that he did not know what you were planning. He should take make up courses and get better grades on his own.

Be smart. Both of you.

Yea But they're only wanting a photocopy ? I thought about scanning it on the computer and just changing the name then printing it in black and white?

It Said 2 standard grades or any other appropriate and he had a health and hygiene thing and it is a NQ in food preperation he is wanting to do that will lead on to uni if he wanted and his interviewer was not from the "cooking" dept. he was from sports and he said that anyone from the cooking would have probably let him in with just the health ertificates etc but since he is not he cant.

Do you think he should just maybe send the healthe and hygiene certificate copy to them and see what happens instead then if you dint think a copy is a good idea?

Not going to happen.

They see hundreds of exam certificates and will spot a fake one instantly. The exam boards use special watermarked paper and special printers. You can't fake that.

Once they figure out what you 2 have done you'll get a black mark against your name and his.

What he needs to do is to resit his GCSE's. If he is so bright he should be able to do that at college in a year. I don't know why he "just gave up" at school but the whole point of exams is not only proving how bright you are, it's proving you can put the time and effort into learning it all through the year.

Get him to talk to someone about re-sits and then he can get on the course he wants, just a year later.

Good Luck!! xx

I failed my GCSE, I went to a college which entry fee was lower grades and for that year I got the grades I needed to get into the college i wanted.

Better to go the long way then nothing at all
