My boyfriend is angry, because I hung out for 30 minutes with old friend, what can I do to help him get over this nonsense?

ok here is the deal...im 18 years old and I've been dating this guy on and off for almost 3 years. we r in a long distance relationship and we love each other so much. the problem is I was at a reception after a concert and I saw this guy I had a crush on in 7th grade. I never told him how I felt cuz we ended up being best friends. he asked if I wanted to hang out and I said yeah. we hung out at sonic for 30 minutes and that was it. I didn't feel anything for him at all. I told my bf but I told him 4 days after it happened cuz that was the only free time I had. now he's mad at me saying I betrayed him. we r going to talk about it later today when he calls me. is what I did wrong?? what should I do about it??
