reader, anonymous, writes (24 May 2009): Well, unfortunately your boyfriend will probably be hurt, but that's the way it is with break-ups. They are never easy, but sometimes they are for the best, and it sounds like that could be the case with you, as you already seem to know.
Perhaps you could just explain to him that, while you care about him, you just don't think it will work between you, and that you don't feel like that about him. It will be hard, but I think it's best to be honest with him, he deserves that.
As for this other guy, I think that you have every right to go for it, but if you are worried about hurting the other guy's feelings, then just make sure that you don't accidently rub his nose in it by being all over this guy when he is around. Just be a bit discreet, and hopefully it should work out okay. Good luck. x
