He did not say it without meaning it, more likely he said it as he thought your friend was interested and he could go to her, now he can see he cannot go to her (perhaps she has morals and respects you too much or perhaps she sees him for the slime he is) and so he is back tracking.Like I said, you are young, set your standards high and they will always stay with you. Do not tolerate bad behaviour or anything that is a negative for you and tell him to go, move on and forget him.Put up with this and you will be putting up with crap your whole life.
