A female United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

This guy that I've liked for a while finally asked me out. The only two problems are that my bestfriend likes him too, and even went out with him but she broke up with him a few months ago and has been seeing other people. Also, he's my first boyfriend but I'm not his first girlfriend. What do I do and how do I act? And how do I tell my friend if I don't want to break up with him but don't want to lose her as a friend?

A female reader, anonymous, writes (1 November 2009):

I think that you should just tell your best friend that this would be your first boyfriend and that she's dating other people now. So why should you be confined not to date the guy you like? About the guy just be yourself if he doesn't like you for who you are than you probably shouldn't go out with him. And don't tell him that he's your first boyfriend because things get awkward. Hope my advice helps.
