A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

i've have a really big arguement with my ex-best friend becausewe both like this guy...i talk to him on an instant messenger and she doesnt(she does have a pc at home)....when I told about it she seemed jealous...so to try and save our friendship so we wouldn't fall out over a boy...i told her i wasnt talking to him. i know i shouldnt of lied to her but i didnt wantus to fall out over something so silly...but she found out and now she hates me. Was she a real friend? i kno its silly and it may sound selfish but if she was a real friend wouldnt she be happy for me rather than jealous?...or was i the moo for lying to her? (but i didnt lie t be nasty i was just trying to be a good friend)

please help!

because it happened to me, my advice to everyone else is stick to the truth, it may cause arguments at first but at least you're being truthful-they cant get in a stromp about that because your trying to be a good friend. i did the opposite to try and be a good friend and it made me look like a really bad one, when i was actually trying to do the right thing so my friend wouldnt feel hurt, but it backfired. so tell the truth!!!

Well whats worth more to you?? Your friendship with your best friend or this guy?? You'll always have your friends where as at your age guys come and go...

My best friend & I had the same probs a few years ago and we both agreed that the guy wasn't worth losing our friendship over...
