reader, anonymous, writes (25 April 2009): HE IS VERY CONTROLLING due to his insecurities. He is afraid you will find somebody else more appealing. He is trying to isolate you from your friends (and my guess probably is even to some degree your family). I went through this for the past 16 months. IT IS NOT GOOD. He has addictive love (not healthy love) based on trust, and sharing).Tell him COUNSELING IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST B/C YOU WANT TO UPGRADE THIS RELATIONSHIP OTHERWISE YOU ARE BEING unfairly controlled. It is (I know) easier said then done b/c we love them and are (OURSELVES) AFRAID TO LEAVE THE. lOOK UP "love addiction" you will find that you too may be addicted to him - different types of love addiction (I am learning I am OLA) ...  you need to talk to him and if he is willing to give away 5 years over something so stupid then hes not worth it... then hes just there to be there if he thinks its that easy to leave or maybe he just says that because he knows you dont want to lose him.
