I have had the mirena coil for almost ten years now, I am on my second one and its due to be changed March 2010. For me it was an excellent choice, as my periods stopped, although I have to say it is uncomfortable to have fitted, I would recommend some pain killers before you get it inserted. Lots of women will say different things about it, but all I can say is that it has been perfect for me. I have not had any side effects to report either. Good luck in making your choice.

My doctor recommended it to me in the past as well. It seems like a good alternative; however, I did have really good health insurance and they wouldn't cover it. So it can be farely expensive since they have to insert it, and then if you decide to have it taken out or it's after the 5-years, it's not covered either. So I just stuck to the good ol' pill. My cousin does use the NuvaRing and she likes it.
