A male reader, Griffo Australia +, writes (17 January 2009):

Griffo agony auntYou just have to forget about him. By keeping in contact it keeps the spirit alive in your previous relationship. id take approximately six month without contact at all and after that see how you go, if you go to the same school then it could be a little harder.

You have to let your old BF go. it could also be that he was your first true love. if so you will never forget your first love you just have to accept that it didn't work out and then enjoy your new partner.
