A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I don't know whats wrong with me.

It's like there is this whole in my chest and everything about me is being sucked away, a huge vaccum cleaner just aching in my chest.

Everyday is monotomous and I don't really feel like anyone cares about me or knows anything about me.

Then theres this constant battle in my head about everything.

I don't know how I feel.

It's just aching and sore and lonely and trying to cry but I can't and numb everywhere.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (19 July 2009):

Seek medical advice. You may be feeling low because of an illness like an underactive thyroid or low sugar levels etc. They have depression as a side effect. I was tried for them but it was negative and I was suffering from depression.

I know how you feel. It's hard. I don't take antidepressants because I'd rather get through it without all the bad side effects.

Talking is good, but as said before, they don't understand how you feel, low, upset and emotional. It's a silent battle in some ways, but find things that make you happy and then you do start feeling better. Do something proudctive and do not concentrate on how you are feeling. Go and see your doctor and they can give you referals for help.

When you know you actually are suffering from depression, you feel better instantly because it can get better, but make sure it is not an illness and you aren't just experiencing this because of a problem.

You can get out, you just need to believe and help yourself. It takes time. But it is possible. The key is talking and understanding why you feel that way, then the problems can be solved.

All the best

Two things to try

See your GP, just in case there is a physical reason for your depressive feelings, e.g. a hormone imbalance

Seek support from others in your own situation. There is a specific UK forum for depression sufferers at http://lifewithoutlimitsforum.co.uk

For every problem there is an answer. Even if you do not know what has caused you to feel this way, it is there. You will need to talk to someone, if not a professional then someone who is sincere. You need to go back to when you was happy and talk it out from there forward. You will began to see why it is your not happy and then search for the answer to cure it. You can pm me if you need any help. I wish you the best

A female reader, masquerade711 Canada +, writes (18 July 2009):

masquerade711 agony auntYou need somebody to show that they care. You need someone to just hold you while you cry. You need to find a forest or a trail or SOMEWHERE, and just run and cry and run and cry until whatever's inside of you making you depressed is gone. You need to stand in a clearing and scream. You need to force yourself to come alive again.

If you feel that there's no one in your life that you can trust (though I'm sure there are plenty of people who would be more than happy to lend a listening ear), then seek out a professional who can help you unload your emotions and deal with them in a healthy way.
