writes: Recently, I found a text message in my boyfriend's phone to one of his friend's wishing the friend's wife a "Happy Birthday" and also to tell her best friend he said "What's up?" I did not confront him at the time because I was embarassed over it and did not want to argue. We got to joking the other day about him knowing how to catch me in a lie so I confronted him about the text and of course, he got angry but finally explained to me that it was a joke because that girl simply had a crush on him but told her friend not to tell therefore it was a joke between my boyfriend and his friend. What hurts me is that if this is a joke, why wasn't I included? We've been together for 4 years! How am I suppose to believe him when we have so little communication that I occasionally check his text messages simply to see what's going on in his life. It's like living with a roommate and not a partner. Advice?
