But as time passed i started feeling dry and itchy and swollen. This has only happened to me one other time after sex and i changed everything - changed the type of condoms we used (non-latex), changed the lube to a water base, etc, etc, peed a lot and drank a bunch of cranberry juice and ate yogurt. We did use a latex condom ... which i havent done in years. now im wondering if its a latex allergy. But ive had back surgery before - if it were a latex allergy wouldnt i have had a reaction after surgery? But its the weekend and i cant see my doctor until monday, does this just sound like a latex allergy?

reader, anonymous, writes (15 March 2009): This happened to me once after having sex with a new partner. It was a combiination of things, the condom brand he used (I have a slight allergy to latex like in bandaids, actually it is the glue they use to stick the bandaids plus the latex that gives me a red swollen patch
where the bandaid was.....most condoms latex or otherwise don't bother me....so I think it is the combinatio of
the lube on the condoms and the material they are made out of) but it also was because he was pretty rough with me for a prolonged period of time that caused the swelling...so that may be it for you too.
Remember non laytex condoms do not protect against HIV and some other STD's so get yourself and him tested if you are going to continue to use these type of condoms...and if you decide to not use a condom later on....
As far as temporary relief, abstain from sex until the irritation goes down....not much you can do except relax and soak in the tub with some oatmeal (Aveeno) bath.

Put some gental moisturiser on it or some talcum powder which should help. Also wear cotton underwear which will be softer down there.
Try and book a doctors appointment for as soon as possible because you do need a professional opinion on it.
Good luck

I think locking yourself away is a good option maybe a cool bath and some anti-histamines(hayfever pills) may help.

In the UK all medical personnel have to use Non-latex equipment, I think it is the same in the States, we use a latex replacement called Nitrile. So you could well have a latex allergy.
As Gina says you have done everything right so far, so see what your doctor says
