writes:so there's this guy that i liked about a year ago, he sort of seemed interested (we flirted and stuff) but i couldn't tell. after a verbal denial he gave someone else, i stopped trying; i don't get emotionally attached that easy, so it wasn't really a big deal. since i've stopped "like liking" him, i've come to think of J as a brother; I'm no longer nervous at all around him and am completely myself.recently i've kind of started seeing someone... we were hanging out at my place and J showed up. he stood in the room across from us (with his buddy), but didn't they weren't talking to each other. me and my date were playing xbox, and all of the sudden J bursts out "i'm gonna go play my own games, enough of this shit" when clearly he had no obligation to be watching, and he kept staring at my date.over the days that followed he has been liking my stuff on fb (which he NEVER used to do, and i though odd it's just been all of a sudden). one day when he came over to see my roomy he came in (the front door was open, in summer it usually is) and he just stood there real quietly until i noticed (a couple minutes at least), then goes "took you long enough to see me" and goes to see his buddy. he also seems kinda hesitant to leave when it's just me and him talking as he's headed out the door. it could just be my imagination, but it definitely seems like things have changed some.when he was asked about liking me or not before, he had mentioned that i wasn't his type (physically, because in every other aspect we are loads alike - even he admitted that)... maybe seeing me with this other guy has triggered him? that's the only thing i can think of.... what do you think?thanx so much in advance,xoxo

reader, anonymous, writes (19 August 2011): This is verified as being by the original poster of the questionhe's my brother's best friend, he's around a lot and i act around him the same way i act around family (entirely myself -- i treat him like family, which is why i consider him a brother); however, we aren't really close other than that. I consider us friends, but nothing extravagant... the only time I see him is when him and my brother are hanging out, it's never just me and J alone or with other friends.
if we were quite close, i could see what you're saying making sense... but we aren't, which is why i'm so confused; J doesn't really have a reason to be jealous, unless there's some other component that I'm not aware of.
