I've changed for the better and I want him back!

I was seeing a guy for a couple of months and things were great, but I started to display clingy tendencies, I basically lost the self confident woman he fell for in the first place and I deeply regret it. He broke up with me because he wanted space and time to work on himself, he has been through a tough time lately. My question is is there any chance that I can show him that I realise I did the wrong thing and have changed for the better, I want him back. Thanks

I wasn't changing for him I was getting the real me back...

Other things in my life were starting to go badly (career wise etc) so he felt like the only thing that was right in my life so I stopped doing my normal busy stuff and tried to grab onto him with both hands, clearly a huge mistake and one I regret
