if you have been hurt then you have trust issues, or issues with developing trust. the only way to get over it is to take a chance. eventually over time you will learn, and you will look back in time and laugh.
as for this boy, he is probably feeling the same way you do, if what your friends speak is truth. why don't you make the next move? that is the chance, that is the risk.
