Here's a little information from webmd.com:
"Rashes in the groin area have many causes, such as ringworm or yeast. Most rashes can be treated at home."
"A rash may be the first symptom of a sexually transmitted disease (STD). If you may have been exposed to an STD, do not have sexual contact or activity until you have been evaluated by your health professional. This will reduce the risk of spreading a possible infection to your sex partner. Your sex partner may also need to be evaluated and treated."
So it might be something like a ringworm or yeast infection. If you've been sexually active, then you need to be treated because this could damage your future health!

I cant think of any reason why it could be dangerous.
If its red then you may just have a skin complaint maybe from using a different soap or gel.It can be sorted out with lotion, such as camomile (always read the label to see if it can be used down there). Scratching will also make it worse so try and stop!
Wear cotton underwear as other types can aggrovate the skin.
If it dosent disappear in another week or so, you might want to think about seeing a doctor, just in case.
