Start looking for a dress and a place." I felt shy and changed the subject, but now I'm wondering how I can bring this up again. Naturally, I would like a romantic proposal with a diamond ring. I know most men, at least young men, need a little "help" realizing that that's what they're supposed to do, instead of just an informal "Why don't we get married" sort of proposal. How do I tell him this without seeming matierialistic? Should I just casually say something like, "If we're getting married, we should start shopping for rings."

Maybe you could say something like "so, when are we getting married then?" and when he says 'after the summer' or whatever, you could say "youll have to ask me properly though" and see where it goes from there, hopefully, he should take the hint!
