Hey, this is probaly a really stupid question, but is unprotected sex the only way to catch chlamydia?

Im thinking of sleeping with my boyfriend for the first time, but I wont be his first. Hes had a test done and hes all clear, and they offer them at my school but id rather not have to go and take one for obvious reasons... just wondering if its pretty safe to say I havnt got it?

Thanks :) x

Thank you!

Im definitely ready for this, and no I wouldnt have unprotected sex ever, but after a while if all goes well id like to go on the pill just to make it doubley safe, and if that happens im sure there will be occasions where it happens without the condom, as my bf insists its feels better- boys!

But dont worry id always use contraception =]

thanks again! x

Lola1 agony auntIf you haven't had sex, you are not likely to have a sexually transmitted disease. However, HPV can be obtained through receiving oral sex from someone with a cold sore, and so there are other considerations.

If you are both clean, then go to the store and buy condoms. In the very least you want to avoid pregnancy, right? Aside from abstinence, condoms are the best way to protect against both pregnancy and STDs that I know of.

If you are uncertain you are clean, I suggest a going to a walk-in clinic for testing.

If you are looking to have sex for the first time, you have a responsibility to learn about pregnancy and STD prevention first. Are you sure you are ready?

I do hope you are not considering having unprotected sex. To do so is simply idiotic at any age, whether either of you have an STD or not. The only people who should ahve unprotected sex are those who are prepared or looking to make babies.

Yes but id rahter not have to get checked in school cos people might see and then rumors would start. If I did not make this clear, im a virgin, so I cant have it, can I?

I think you should get tested. It would be the most respectful thing to do. Most tests are done by taking a urine sample and you should have the results back in a few days. Herpes is a blood sample, and HIV can be done with a mouth swab. Chlamidia is a treatable condition and one that you would probably show symptoms for (ie. you would know that you have it). Either way, getting tested is safe, easy, and respectful. Good luck to both you. :)
