reader, anonymous, writes (5 June 2010): if you are really concerned about this then i would advice you to talk to your parents about this matter. Personally i would say you would not have to marry the husband of your dearly departed sister however as i do not come from south africa, i cannot be certain of the cultural norms etc. Ask your parents or friends - its better to look silly by asking than worrying endlessly.

reader, anonymous, writes (5 June 2010): Nothing happens, you'd grieve sincerely for your sister's death and the man would be really upset, but you wouldn't give him another family member . He'd have to heal on his own, and when he is ready, he would find a new wife by himself
