Is this normal behavior, or is this part of my narcolepsy?

Question - (24 March 2012) 1 Answers - (Newest, 24 March 2012)
A male Canada age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I'm not a deep sleeper and tend to wake up several times every night. Whenever I do, my thing is usually hard and rubbing against the sheets. I'll find myself touching it lightly or moving so that it rubs against the sheets more, until I get tired and fall asleep again. This happens whenever I wake during the night. When it's time to get up, if I am still sleepy, I'll sit up and touch it for several minutes to fully wake up. No orgasms during any of this.

It all happens automatically now, like second nature. Don't think to do it, I'll just notice I'm already doing it. It doesn't cause any problems and does feel good. I want to know whether this is normal behaviour to do every single night and every morning??

P.S. I may have mild narcolepsy. My brain seems to go straight to the dreaming phase as soon as I fall asleep or even AS I'm falling asleep. So if I doze off on the bus or in a lecture, for instance, I start dreaming right away and get a hard-on. Has anyone heard of this before?

A female reader, katiekate United States +, writes (24 March 2012):

katiekate agony auntI have no idea if this is related to narcolepsy, but it doesn't sound all that strange. We all have our little quirks. And most men (from what I know and have experienced) wake up with erections. I think it's natural. I wouldn't be too worried about it, but talk to your doctor if you are really concerned.
