I'm pregnant and i'm 2 weeks from my due date, but feeling a wee bit funny. I'm experiencing period like symtoms without the cramps .... a bit like a leaky tap without the leaking. I feel like i could start my period, i know, not going to but that's how i feel however i don't have all my "normal" systoms. I feel like my bits may be opening but not sure. It could be signs that labour may start in the next few days but just wanted some advice as to whether anyone else has had not typical labour systoms? My mum delivered her two first without pain so i'm not sure if i'm following her foot steps or whether my body is saying ... hey hey, labour is on the way but not here yet :) I'm just trying to be calm and i don't feel in any danger but once i know true labour is established i'll call my midwife and get her to come over ... just a waiting game of "am i or aren't i?" right now. So would you say i'm getting there?

Original Poster, you haven't mentioned any "significant other". (Not many girls get pregnant all by themselves.) I hope there's a loving, considerate guy in your life - I remember pregnancy being a very loving, intimate time as a couple. And raising a kid to be a responsible adult really takes two parents.

I hope your delivery is a fulfilling experience for you, and your child is loved and nurtured.

original poster here :) thanks guys - whatever it was - its gone now and i'm back to my normal little self with a big jolly belly :) No baby yet and period like sensations went away. So i think its just my body's way of saying baby is gonna be shortly on the way :) I'm happy and enjoying however much time i have left of my glorious freedom :)

Sounds like you're "getting there", but not arrived yet.

The first time my wife was pregnant she had something similar to what you're feeling for almost 2 days before she actually started labor. I've heard other women say it went on even longer. If you are unsure, then you need to talk to a medical person (doctor, midwife, etc).

Here in the U.S., I think they tell pregnant ladies to get to a hospital or birth clinic promptly if either:

- The membrane ruptures (there will be a LOT of fluid coming out of you, perhaps in a big gush or maybe in a steady, prolonged, trickle)

- You feel definite contractions - more intense than cramps - roughly 10 minutes apart.

I know you don't want to look like a paranoid expectant mother, but checking in with your medical provider at this stage isn't a bad thing. They can give a more accurate assessment, and alert you to things to be watching for.

At two weeks left you've got a lot of last minute preparations to deliver the baby. While your cervix ripens, you could pass all sorts of material that have been building up for their own purpose. Your cervical "plug" will pass, and that is a combination of fluids and membrane and stuff. Then anything hanging around the opening could come out too.

As for how you feel, everyone has their very own exclusive story about what their body went through right before delivery. If you feel symptoms like you're starting your period then that exclusive set of symptoms and feelings is legitimately telling you the baby's coming!
