Whether there's an implant or not, prolonged bleeding is not normal especially since this is not a new implant; it's coming up on 1 year. It doesn't sound like a symptom of any STDs I've heard of but probably most likely related to the implant.

Prolonged periods of bleeding are quite common with the implant, injection and the Marina coil, some times womens periods can stop altogether, some women (like myself) bleed 28 days of the month and then a week off, and I gained 2 stone, lol, hence why I changed to copper coil. But I'm not a doctor, so please go see him/her if your concerned, if nothing else just to put your mind at rest, but personally i'd not be too concerned while waiting for the appointment.
