So there's this guy at work who I really like. He is 8 years older than me. I'm 18 and he's 26 Every time I see him I get those high school feelings. Stop breathing, butterfly's etc. I do act casual though, I'm not acting weird. Haha. But he's really good looking and I'm...not. He walks past me and says little comments sometimes the. Other times he ignores me. Is this any boy lingo or not?

A male reader, Sir_Badassitude United States +, writes (7 October 2013):

I'm not sure about the boy lingo but let me tell you how my girlfriend and I got together. Eerily it's a bit similar to your situation. She was 19 at the time and I was 27 and we worked together as you and your guy at work.

She started working there about 9 months after I did and I was instantly attracted to her. We worked different hours but I would always see her during shift change. In the beginning, I was a bit shy to approach her because it is a work environment after all and there is too much to risk if someone gets rejected. So at first I would ignore her but as time went on I noticed that she would go out of her way to say hello to me.

This went on for a couple of months and pretty soon we started having small conversations. Little by little I started noticing hints that she was interested in me. She didn't throw herself at me, but she would make flirty comments here and there or would compliment me about something. It took me awhile but pretty soon I started flirting back and the rest was history after that :)

Your question is very vague maybe to gauge this guy's interest show a little interest yourself like my girlfriend did with without coming on too strong. Everyday make an effort to say hello to him and start from their. Smile more at him and believe me if he is interested he will respond. I know I sure did but it took a lot of flirting to get it out of me because I am usually the quiet reserved type.

Also the age difference matters and doesn't matter if that makes sense. It matters because you have to be careful because there are assholes out there who would love nothing more to take advantage of a young women and use them just for sex. The age difference doesn't matter because it all depends on the two lovers and how they are. I am 9 years older than my girlfriend and for the most part we are happy. I've met her family and she's met mine and everything has worked out. Good luck
