A female United Kingdom age 26-29, anonymous writes:

Hi all I have a pretty weird question to ask, first of all I'll explain the situation:

I was due on my period later this week so me and my boyfriend decided to have sex (our first time together and my first time in general) it hurt a little as it went in but apart from that it was fine, a couple of hours later he started fingering me but we had to stop because his friend had come round and was waiting downstairs for him.

When we were cleaning up there was blood everywhere so I thought that I got my period, but the next day there was no blood in the pad but blood when I went to the toilet?

What does this mean? I'm in no pain whatsoever, another thing: has anyone else ever got their period at an awkward time?

I've never been more embarrassed even if my boyfriend keeps reassuring me that it's fine and no one is to blame, thank you

A female reader, RubyBirtle United Kingdom +, writes (23 January 2016):

It was most probably your hymen breaking. as Ivyblue says, the amount of pain and blood the first time varies from woman to woman.

And it could be your period too if you're expecting it around about now. If you had been lying down before you visited the loo, it's possible that the blood accumulated in the vaginal vault and didn't come out until you were upright (and squeezing a little). This is quite normal too.

Sex can be quite a messy business so try not to be embarrassed about it - it happens.

Ivyblue agony auntId say it was from breaking your Hymen. So women bleed a lot, some a little and some not enough to even notice. All are perfectly natural when having sex for the first time. I suppose for you it might be a bit embarrassing but really it is nothing you should be. I hope your using condoms though?
